Model / Opportunity

Opportunity identification before company formation.

BLACK& evaluates opportunities through structural change, unmet need, strategic relevance, market structure, technology feasibility, timing and risk rather than through narrative appeal alone.

Signal map

Relevant inputs may include market behavior, infrastructure constraints, regulation, technology inflection, supply chains, institutional priorities and persistent operating friction.

Evaluation frame

Each opportunity is assessed for problem materiality, addressable user, strategic relevance, market structure, evidence quality, timing, technical feasibility, capital intensity and principal failure modes.

Conviction threshold

A thesis advances only when its central assumptions can be stated, tested and assigned to evidence owners. Uncertainty is recorded rather than disguised.

Decision output

The output is not automatically an investment. It may be a research agenda, technology prototype, company-formation proposal, partnership route or a documented decision not to proceed.
